The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) has announced the appointment of Dr. Bruce Ward as the 2025/2026 CDA president. With almost 50 years of experience as a recently retired general dentist at a North Vancouver dental practice, Dr. Ward brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. He graduated with a DMD from McGill University Dental School.
Dr. Ward has served as the president of the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA) and represented BCDA on the CDA Board of Directors since 2017. His contributions to numerous community, educational, and professional organizations, including chairing the BCDA dental mentorship program and the Pacific Dental Conference (PDC), Canada’s largest dental meeting, demonstrate his commitment to the dental community.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Ward has volunteered at the Eastside Dental Clinic, which serves people living in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver who cannot afford dental care. He has also volunteered for the Lion’s Gate Hospital Palliative Care Program and the YMCA of Greater Vancouver Marathon Clinic.
He has been married to his wife Karin for 47 years, and the couple has three dogs. He was a long-distance runner for 20 years and ran 26 marathons in Canada and abroad.
Dr. Ward will lead CDA in its mandate as the national voice for dentists, dedicated to promoting the oral health of all Canadians, supporting CDA members and dentists, and advancing the dental profession.
