The 2024 Alberta Dental Team Summit was held in Calgary, Alberta from June 20 – 22, 2024. Hosted by the Alberta Dental Association in partnership with the Dental Hygienists Association of Alberta, the Association of Alberta Dental Assistants, the Calgary & District Dental Society, the Edmonton & District Dental Society, the Dental Industry Association of Canada, and the University of Alberta, the Summit brought together every facet of the dental team under one roof, exploring wellness activities that foster high-performing dental teams, bring back joy in work, and fuel business success. More than just lectures and exhibits; the 2024 Alberta Dental Team Summit was a celebration of our dental community, designed to empower all members of the dental team.
Highlights
Exhibitor Hall Kick-Off Reception
With a DJ spinning tunes, a well-stocked candy bar, flair bartenders pouring feature drinks, a stunning charcuterie spread to nosh on, plus an amazing, the evening was a fun celebration of camaraderie.
Keynote Speaker Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe
Sponsored by CDSPI, Dr. Hanley-Dafoe shared her theory “Everyday Resiliency: The Five Pillars” and strategies to help foster resilience within us and our teams. There were so many takeaway messages and tools, and her storytelling of her life experiences that led to her life’s work on the subject was heart-wrenching yet uplifting.
Friday Night FUNraiser
Designed to support Alberta Dentists for Ukraine, an ADA initiative in partnership with Firefighter Aid Ukraine. Attendees saw amazing young performers dancing us into the beautifully decorated Fairmont ballroom, ate delectable Ukrainian foods, enjoyed lively duelling piano performances, bid on stellar silent auction items, and toasted the resilience of Ukraine.
Attendees heard from Natalka Cmoc, Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine, who sent a video message stressing the need for help in the region is more important than ever and thanking Alberta’s dental community for their generosity. As well, we were honoured to welcome MLA Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk, Parliamentary Secretary for Settlement Services and Ukrainian Evacuees, who joined us in person to share greetings from the Province and to raise a glass.
