Dr. Herchen brings decades of clinical, business, and leadership experience to his 2025 term, will focus on oral health education, challenges facing Alberta’s dentists
Edmonton dentist Dr. Hans Herchen is the new president of the Alberta Dental Association. With over three decades of experience in dentistry and business leadership, Dr. Herchen takes over the position from Dr. Jenny Doerksen whose one-year term ended on January 31, 2025.
“It is an incredible honour to represent the nearly 3,000 dentists of Alberta,” says Dr. Herchen. “Dentistry is a vital part of the overall health of Albertans, and I am dedicated to ensuring that both patients and dental professionals thrive.”
As founder and CEO of Dental Choice—a network of dental clinics serving communities across western Canada—Dr. Herchen brings a wealth of hands-on experience in both patient care and dental practice management.

With Dr. Herchen at the helm, the ADA will continue to promote the importance of public oral health education and its connection to overall wellness.
