Oral Health Month

Each April, the Alberta Dental Association (ADA) celebrates Oral Health Month—a national campaign focused on improving oral health awareness and helping Albertans build lifelong healthy habits.

Good oral health is about more than your teeth. It plays an important role in your overall well-being, and small, consistent habits can make a lasting difference.

This year, Oral Health Month also highlights an important part of routine dental care that many people may not think about: oral cancer screening. Learn more through our A Mouth Says A Lot campaign.

Small Habits Have a BIG Impact

Healthy smiles are built on simple, consistent habits.

  • Floss daily
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Visit your dentist regularly

These everyday actions help prevent oral health issues and support your overall health at every stage of life.

Stay informed. Avoid shortcuts.

Trends and quick fixes online may promise fast results, but they can lead to long-term damage.

Instead of relying on viral “hacks,” stick with proven practices and speak with your oral health provider if you have questions about your care.

A healthy smile doesn’t need shortcuts—just the right habits.

Your Oral Health Team is Here to Help

Your dental team plays an important role in maintaining your oral and overall health.

Regular visits allow your provider to monitor changes, address concerns early, and support your long-term health.

If you have questions about your oral health—including screenings or preventive care—don’t hesitate to ask.
